What I’m Reading: Nutritional Myth Busters

Examine.com (an independent group of researchers that sort through nutritional and supplement data to deliver the most efficient and unbiased information) has been killing it this year.  Here are a few of my favorite pieces by them so far:

 

Basically, no food is bad for you, including:

  • Carbs
  • Fats
  • Protiens
  • Egg Yolks
  • Red Meat
  • Salt
  • Bread (just ask Oprah)

Previously, I believed that if you were sleep deprived, you’d eat more calories because your body was begging for a form of energy.  While there is still some truth to that, apparently there is a lot more going on.  Including hormones being thrown out of whack and just more hours available to be eating.  Check it out.

Is my “slow metabolism” stalling my weight loss? No.  On average, your metabolism won’t vary greatly from the average grocery store patron.

Unless you exercise. That will rev it up.  Or can re-live your teenage years.
